LOG 15: Music therapy

OOPS, oops, oops! I think, I might just have had a tiny lapse of memory (again, hehe). Before my birthday and after the lumbar puncture, I may just have forgotten to mention some key events that took place.

Until now, I was having normal therapies for my body, but it was around this time that we ventured into trying 2 new therapies.

We started something different called music therapy. They started this as my parents happened to mention to my recovery and rehab doctor, that I was (and still quite am) an ardent music lover. This therapy aimed at using the action of playing musical instruments as a disguised form of exercise to improve movement, co-ordination, and the functionality of my limbs. Apart from this, it also aimed at improving my cognitive capabilities.

For testing and improving my cognitive abilities further, they had decided to start my sessions with the psychologist. In the beginning, it was just one cognitive assessment. But, this was soon followed with 2 more sessions with my psychologist. These sessions were aimed at figuring out what were my cognitive deficits (if any) and how to tackle them. Initially, I had some short-term memory issues and delayed mathematical response, not to mention some major lack of space-time awareness – these still occur from time to time. This was by far my shortest therapy of all time. It literally lasted for only 5-6 sessions. There wasn’t a need of any more sessions because one, all my time was taken up by physiotherapy and daily life activities (boy has got to eat, rest, poop, and chill too, you know?) and two, they soon realized that this level of deficit would soon be taken care of innately during the recovery and rehab process.

Anyway enough about the in-between, let’s talk about the big day… In the next log (sorry, I know it was supposed to come in this log, but you’ll have to wait just a little bit longer)  😉

To Be Continued….
