LOG 19: Lumbar Puncture – well again!
Well, November was quite an electrifying month (you know, full of short circuiting and stuff) but that was not the only highlight of the month. During this seizure-ridden period, the CSF pressure in my brain was increasing due to my ventricles (the internal CSF flow regulating machines) going on strike. The ensuing hydrocephalus was causing some undesirable effects on my recovery, which the doctors believed could be cured by another lumbar puncture (see log 14 if you’ve forgotten what that is). So, before November ended, I had my second lumbar puncture.
This lumbar puncture was the final test to see whether I needed to become a cyborg in the first place or not. It was obvious that they had to find a more permanent solution to this extra CSF accumulation problem as the effect of the lumbar puncture wasn’t lasting very long. I didn’t know what exactly the doctors were suggesting that time, but they were already in discussion with my parents regarding a surgery called shunting to put in a device called a VP shunt into my skull (if you’d like more information on that, don’t hesitate to contact me, or you could just Google it). This could be a permanent cure for the problem at hand but had its own “side-effects” as does everything. The discussion regarding whether or not this surgery would take place was going on since almost 3 months, as I discovered later.
Amidst all the mayhem in the hospital, my parents and sister were doing all the real discussion and making all the real life or death choices in life-threatening situations. In fact, it is because of those right decisions taken at the right times, that I am able to share my story with you. I suppose that is a very crucial thing, keeping a cool and stable mind even when everything around you seems turbulent and chaotic.
If my memory serves me right, this brings an otherwise uneventful November to an end. Are you ready for the premium ride guys? Because I promise you, the next few logs are the game changing curves on the race track.
