“Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” Well, finally. Finally it was time, the golden hour had come (and just about time too, being patient {no pun intended} is tiring). With no further hiccups in my discharge venture we ultimately managed to deliver the discharge on the date we had decided- which was the first week of March.
After months of endless therapies, constantly shifting beds, celebrating festivals and birthdays, jumping over hurdles as though we were in a race and of course innumerable tests, procedures and operations later we were finally going to bear the fruit of all of the hard work and sweat put into this entire mission. There was a mixture of happiness and relief flying around in the air making our souls fly in their shells as though one might have turned on the anti-gravity switch in a space shuttle.
The doctors informed us that for further recovery we would have to come to the hospital on OPD basis for therapy until further notice. I guess you could say that I was getting discharged from the hospital…. but not quite yet. I could almost hear the line of “good riddance” when all of this was happening-“It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right, I hope you had the time of your life”
Well I think one might say I did quite have the time of my life, I mean who goes celebrating birthdays and festivals in the hospital as though it were your home, and of course let’s not forget making uncountable new friends and memories that would last a lifetime. It taught me more than I could ever have learnt on my own and shown me things, qualities, attributes about myself that I didn’t even know I had and let’s not forget all these changed me for the better. This hospital stay turned out to be more fun than I expected- gee, that almost sounds like a dream teen vacation right?
Less of a vacation, more of an all you can learn buffet I think would be more like it. This hospital stay turned out to be more helpful than I could have imagined it would be. It had changed me not just from inside but also my way of looking at the outside world. It also enabled me to share my newfound knowledge with everyone who is in need of it.
In the midst of the more tedious than we imagined discharge process, we were busy packing our bags, bidding our farewells to everyone and taking contacts of all our friends so we could stay in touch. After all, we were JUST getting discharged from the hospital, the real thriller was just about to start. Read on.
FINALLY! 🥳
